Sunshine and Rainbows
It‘s ALL Sunshine + Rainbows... until it‘s not. This mental health centered podcast starts important conversations in hopes to peel back even more layers of what it’s like to live in a society full of highlight reels. Join your host, Amanda Young from ThatMandaGirl, each Monday morning as she creates a welcoming space where listeners are challenged to look at a situation with a different angle, hear from special guests who share incredible stories AND laugh along the way!
ABOUT
Amanda started her brand while working in the Animal Training field and focused on sharing about her career and love of animals. She wanted to humanize people that work with animals and typically get a bad reputation in the media due to some extremely biased opinions and documentaries. In 2019, she was laid off from her dream job working with killer whales, due to a company wide restructuring – that’s when she started really struggling with her (already spiraling) mental health. Instead of hiding it, she chose to share her journey online and began building a like minded community. She chose to take this moment of hurt and loss with her chin up and chest out – turning this into an opportunity to pivot.
Each day, Amanda shows up for her community she’s built in hopes to inspire meaningful conversations surrounding mental health, breaking societal norms and being an advocate for inclusivity… all while figuring out her own bold and colorful lifestyle along the way. It has been FAR from the “picture perfect” life she thought she had planned… but Amanda has come to own that maybe all her set backs were actually just setUPs to step into her true potential.

Back To The Beginning [Birthday Episode]
Monday Jan 17, 2022
Monday Jan 17, 2022
It's my 29th birthday today and instead of interviewing a guest I chose to read a deeply personal and reflective journal entry, turned blog post, turned podcast episode... What could go wrong?
I'm so thankful for this space that each listener and subscriber has given me to share, grow and learn. The past year of my life has been one of true transformation and I'm finally at a point where I'm living as an active participant.
I'm sharing this journal entry, not for attention or clout, but in hopes that someone listening doesn't feel alone in their situation.
Much love, Amanda.
